I just learned Frenzel too and you definitely do not need to use your diaphragm. It is very easy and effortless so you should not struggle. It works very well even with empty lungs. You should not need to move any muscle from your neck down. I like to think of it as a "froggy" throat movement -I keep thinking of the Budweiser commercials
