I have had the same thought about salt, but I don't know if it is correct. It would be nice to get one of the experts in freediving biochemistry, nutrition or other such (sorry, this is so much NOT my area, that I don't know which area it is) to comment on this.
I have heard the advice "drink lots of water - stay hydrated" a lot, and I am wondering why noone mentions the importance of maintaining a salt balance as well. Like I said, I don't have any real knowledge about this, but my guess is that the muscles need the minerals from the salt... and you probably hit just the right balance between salt and water intake. So congratulations and keep us posted if you make other discoveries in this area
