It is possible to push water from your mouth into your sinuses. This is the basis for the watersuck equalizing technique (involves using a mask, sucking water in through the mouth and then letting it flow to the sinuses). However, it is extremely difficult -- it makes the mouthfill look joke easy in comparison.
You must overcome the soft palate reflex in order to accomplish it. Another method is to do kechari mudra (sliding the tongue into the nasopharynx) to force the soft palate to stay open.
