Benny, when I was struggling in the same phase, I eventually got past it with this "ummph" sound.

Damn it's hard to explain in text, but you make a sort of groan with your throat, which seals the epiglottis and just when the groan ends (throat is closed), you equalize. Making the noise and conscentrating on it helped me keep the air in my mouth in that critical moment. After doing that for a while, I noticed I don't need to produce the sound anymore, but I can control those muscles without it. And of course, after some time, the whole process is subconcious...
