I think you will be very disapointed after the hunt. myself and both my spearfishing partners took large shark (6-7ft) when we were spearfishing in the gulf. they died very quickly, they were easy to shoot, and they were not very good to eat. after that the "adventure" of sspearing a shark was completly lost.

if you're concerned about the about of sharks harvested by commercial fisherman, wouldn't spearing one just be contributing to the overall take?

I spent over 10yrs spearfishing the gulf. every year I saw less sharks. every year the spearfishing got worse. coincidence? I think not.
