You are entitled to your opinion mate however the Undersea mech is a very reliable and well proven mech which will perform quite well with 2 short 16mm rubbers.-this mech is the one that Riffe based their trigger design on.
Riffe has improved it with a heavier case and better line release and the The Riffe is better for more rubbers but thousands of spearos in Australia have been using the Undersea mech for years with very few problems.
One thing it is prone to is not firing when there is excessive load on the line release from too short a set up of shooting line-If the shooting line is too tight on the line relase the line release can jamb the trigger sear preventing the gun from firing when the trigger is pulled the trigger will move the sear a little but the line release will keep it engaged in the spear notch if you push the line off the release then it will fire if you get this problem increase length of shooting line or spear line slightly to apply minimum tension on line release and it will work like a dream. Ihave 2 guns with undersea mechs and have shot thousands of fish with them over the last 4 or 5 years and aside from having to adjust the tension on line release I have never had a problem with either of them.
