Re: CWT and CNF competition July in Sharm

Its fascinating still after 6 years of fanatic freediving there are still so much to learn. With a new PB three days before competition and finaly set on which suit and weight to wear (which has been my main problem after sussing out how to warm up)... I felt strong enough for CNF 53. Even though stomach problem it felt like an easy dive and there was no nervousness.

But then back at the surface waking up in the cheerfull arms of judge Lotta I realized it had not been an easy dive. All my oxygen had somehow ended up in my body and not in my brain. Body felt fine, too fine - but as Will explained above blood pressure was in an all time low and SWB had claimed me.

Seeing how all those who lived and trained in Dahab succeeded I (once again) learnt how important acklimatization is.

Next day I thought I had the answer: Stomach problems, a slight fever and indications of sinus squeeze felt like small problems if I just could get my BP up slightly and get a more vasodiluted brain. So this day hardly no ventilation and more packing and some of Winrams liqorice should solve the problem. I also skipped the suit and went in swimming trunks, hoping for at least some vasoconstriction (in arms and legs) in the luke warm water. I was preparing for a hypocapnic dive with lots of lactic acid.
Unfortunatly I changed one parameter too many when I also skipped the mask (for the first time in comp) and at 43 meters I found it impossible to equalize even thought I had the air for it... strange (Winram claimed it took several months to get use to no mask diving).

So no results but lots of new understanding of body and of freediving.
