Re: Break-Away tip for pole spear

I have an AB Biller breakaway on my Ray Odor. I've only speared one fish with it so far, but it worked OK. The spear is pretty heavy, so I am planning to use it for halibut and not much else
I have a Gat-Ku with breakaway on order, but don't have it yet. Probably won't get to use it till hawaii in January. I ordered it because it is a lot lighter and therefore faster, and I'm tired of losing fish with my Kawamoto 3-prong tip on a hand made spear. It's great if there is a rock behind the victim, but in open water fish have a tendency to get away : (
