True but almost
every gun using circular bands has them working obliquely. This is said to cause a slight waste of power compared to in-line bands, but it's a very little loss. In the case of the Gabbiano Snake, for how the barrell is shaped, the big gain is in very, very low drag and band vibration while side tracking.
