Re: South Devon Report 2008

Ahhh blissful!
I was running late so didn't get as far as Brixham. I scrambled down the hill and dived off the point at hopes nose. I got there at about 4pm and by the time I arrived the sun had dropped down to the west so wasn't hitting the patch I normally dive from. There was also a bit of wind coming in and I wondered If i was doing the right thing but went for it anyway. All I can say is the money I spent on my open cell was worth every penny! They are amazing! Not even the slightest bit cold getting in (apart from 5 minutes of numb face) and then I had the most lovely dive. The water was the clearest I have seen it there and I wasn't the slightest bit cold. I did'nt take the gun as I did'nt excepct to see any fish and I didn't but filled my catch bag with lovely tasty morsels none the less. After a few months off over the winter it was great to see the ocean bed again! As I bobbed up and down in the water looking at the bay shining in the evening sun I thought to myself... this is the best place in the world.....and I love this sport!!
I dived for a about an hour but wanted to be out and dry before it got dark... I dried off had a hot cup of tea, took a few snaps and looked out over the sea feeling properly blissed out....then nearly killed myself carrying all my wet gear back up to the top! Christ, its hell of a pull up there isn't it!!
So yes, a most excellent first dive of the year, lets hope the weather stays like this for spring!
So if anybody is wondering weather to take the plunge so early this year my advice is GO FOR IT!!!!
