Ah, should have asked earlier - that puts a different spin on things. A lot of spots along the east coast such as South West Rocks and Coffs have marine sanctuaries. You'd be best to jump on this forum:

A lot of these guys go up to SWR regularly and are pretty familiar with that and most other spearable places on the east coast.
