Here is my favorite photo to show how our kelp can be thick on the surface. I usually show this one when someone says he can't understand why I say we can't drag a float through the kelp. The water is about 60 feet deep under that kelp.
I could do better, but I have to remember to just take a photo of the surface in a thick bed rather than taking what shows by accident in a fish photo.
