Re: [Article] Sharing the Truth About the Shark "Attack" in the Bahamas

I registered here. Longtime reader of DB, but never felt compelled to post a message.

If Mr. Chin has any evidence whatsoever that the account he is telling the media and written in this article is true, I would like him to share it. Simple.

The "leg nearly torn off" thing came from a coast guard responder that talked to the Daily Mail UK. So calling the reporting of that dishonesty, is not accurate. The Daily Mail has an unbiased source, who could merely be exaggerating of course. At least they have a source.

So how come is isn't okay for the media to speculate on what happened but it is okay for Mr. Chin?

Also, Mr. Chin seems to be able to read the sharks' mind as to why it bit Mr. Groh. If you watch any youtube video of a tiger shark feed, you see they bite at whatever is nearby sometimes. Again, I think his "setting the record straight" here is actually just muddying the waters. No matter what was in the shark's head, there wouldn't have been a problem if JASA had been using a cage to dive with Tigers like Blackbeard's and other responsible operators do on their tiger trips.

None of us want to see shark's made out as villians or more sharks die due to finning. However, making uncorroborated claims about what happened and stretching further to say you know why the shark behaved as it did, and mischaracterizing this incident as an accident do not help the cause.
