Diver Spears World Record Tuna
BY Susan Crocking
Tahitian, Tabiko Boberia, never imagined his vacation of sun and fun on South Beach would land him a potential world record pelagic.
On an early morning half-day charter trip out of KB Marina, Mr. Boberia and his wife Comiendo landed a fish of a lifetime. Charter Captain, Manuel Guayaba commented, "I never seen a fish this size in these waters in 30 years!". Boberia was snorkeling in open water for mackeral and dolphin when from the depths the fish appeared as if from a Melville novel.
"I see the fish and I shoot the fish". Boberia uttered in his broken english. The 38 year old Tahitian, is surely to become a national hero in his native island of Kimbombo. He and his wife are scheduled for a celebration later today at Larios On The Beach with family and friends.
The 667 pound Atlantic Bluefin Tuna is pending IBSRC certificati
