If you cannot read from the camera, try a card reader. Sometimes it helps. If you do not have one, I think you find it for around $10. Or try friends, some computers have built it in.
If it does not help, there are still programs available on the Net that are able to get data (at least some) even from corrupted cards, so you may be able to rescue the valuable shots. Just do not format or clear the card before you try saving the data.
