I have monofins from mat-mas, finis, and a leaderfins hyper, chen bin fin, and I have used a waterway glide and also hyperfins.
Without any question, the hyperfins monos are the most comfortable BY FAR and the only ones (other than finis) that are suitable for long swimming and long usage.
The Leaderfins Hyper and Chen Bin are not comfortable. Their performance seems very similar. I think the chen bin has a slight advantage for sprinting and ascending under heavy negative buoyancy.
The waterway glide crushes my big toe so badly that I can't really use it. However it also performs very similarly to the leaderfins and the chen bin.
All these 'second generation' fins (hyperfins, leaderfins, waterway, chen bin) are much better than the older classic style fins.
Users of the hyperfins complain that the blade buckles and gull flexes way too much. Mullins says on hard ascends he gets a 90 degree gull flex (full fold). He is trying to follow the example of a world champion finswimmer who took a waterway glide blade and attached a hyperfins footpocket to it.
It is also possible (sometimes) to order a custom fin with a bigger angle.

"I encourage you to be free in the way you measure your success. I don’t claim to know what it will be like to be in your position, but I know that when you leave here, grades will be handed out differently. Your ability to gauge your success will largely depend on how you perceive it. You can shape it, set it up, feel it, and define it. Allow competition to turn inward. Do not depend on awards, money, or other validations." -Jonny Moseley
