To add to that, that was the main reason I got out of teaching- I refused to teach a few people and was pissed on by the employer, plus was feeling worried signing off some people's OW certifications. They had passed the 'standards' set, but certainly not mine. I foresaw these clients getting into bad situations and dying because they were undertrained. There's something to be said for the old training standards whereby you had to learn how to freedive first, be a decent swimmer, and do lots of pool sessions before even getting to the open water dives.
I certified enough cardio-impaired divers thanks.
