BTW You could try pushing down on the safety while pushing/pulling to ease it over the "teeth" [see above thread for images]. My safety catch was locked in the off position for more than a year, best situation really (missed 2 fish when safety was on, first was first day ever spearing & second was first fish of the new season a year or two ago -- must have fiddled with the safety over the winter & left it on
).
