It's already supposed to be tapered. So I think in my mind I have settled on the way I roughed it out
The bands would be open the last 8 - 12 inches before the muzzle I think that would highlight the taper a bit too. Kind of a formula 1 car look from the front. I'd keep the butt end wider, like the Sea Sniper guns.
Unless it was carved like a totem pole or something...maybe a carved dragon that fires a spear.
