I think you are doing everthing correctly, and in the order of importance! The rail insures greater accuracy, and eliminating the slide has some advantages. And the rail actually allows the use of more powerful slings,as it reduces shaft whip. Is this gun long enough to entertain the idea of rigging a 'breakaway' shooting line?
