Re: Spearing in San Carlos, Mexico (Sea of Cortez)

The shop I work for in Tucson runs a great beach dive operation at a place called Himalaya Bay. It's on the turn off to Bahia de Kino, roughly 30 klicks north of San Carlos. We get in a fair amount of spear fishing, and the past two weekends I got a few jacks, triggerfish, smallish sea bass and had two yellowfin tuna on spear, although I lost them both. One other diver landed a nice 10 pound yellowfin and we all ate well that night. you can contact The Dive Shop in Tucson if you want more details. The hookah divers have made a huge dent in the local fish population as they supply the restaraunts in San Carlos and Guymas but there is still some good hunting to be had.
