Do them as many times as you like, the more the merrier in my books. You need to teach your body to tolerate co2 build up and o2 depravation so the more you do this the more you can take.
Safety is key, if you feel it's too much stop! Freediving is supposed to be relaxing and enjoyable and if you keep pushing harder and harder you will slowly begin to dislike it.
I train twice a week in the pool and twice a week running etc but every month i make sure i go down the pool and just goof around (blowing bubbles rings and generally being stupid with my monofin!!)
