Some tips: - - for recreational freediving, don't use goggles but rather a mask
- - choose a mask that sits well on your face
- - keep your cheeks and lips relaxed, do no make grimaces under water
- - spit out the snorkel when immersing
- - do not strap the mask firmly; on the surface it should sit on your face with a relatively light touch; in depth the pressure will push and seal it better, and you'll profit from better compressibility for auto-compensation of the mask
- - compensate the mask in depth - when clearing your ears, you should then release your nose and blow some air into the mask
- - shave your barb
- - remove hair from under the mask
- - if diving with a hooded wetsuit, make sure the hood is not squeezed under the mask
- - check the mask for leaks
- - if it still leaks, buy a better one
