Hello from La Jolla

hey my name is David
i am relatively new to spearfishing(less than a year) but have progressed quickly due to a backround in competitive swimming and surfing. i usually dive for orangemouth corvina(25 inch and 23 inch yesterday) and corbina in the surf and calico bass and halibut on the outside reefs.

i joined this forum because on my last dive i saw what could only have been a 3 foot wsb nearshore while i was hunting orangemouth. i was not hooked up to a bouey and refrained from shooting. i was wondering how much fight is in a sea bass of this size and if i could have taken it as i was (gun with 20 feet of shockline attached and no bouey)? i was in about 10 feet of water.
