Re: Cape Town South Africa

heya guys, DT and myself went out towards cape point on Sat, Weahter was awesome, ocean was flat as a snooker table, but alas Viz was 0. But at least the trip around cape point made it worth while

I also have to anounce that my diving will be on hold for a little while due to my wifey standing on the virge of delivering my baby girl. Which should happen this week or next week at latest.

But im sure ill just be in the way once little "Megan" has arrived and wifey will duely chase me out of the house to go diving but ill stick around the forums and splatter my 2cents on every post.

Re: Cape Town South Africa

Somehow or another both my lenses shatered, like in theres only small peices of lense left in the frame. I dont know how I dont know when during the trip it happened, it just did . And my mask was in the same place it always and normally not on such calm seas as saturday. Like covert said it was flat as a snooker table
But Ill go see what Louis can do for me before I start shopping who knows I mite get a new one for free, freebies yay

yep his mask is the weirdest thing ive ever seen was lying underneat som spearguns, and I dont see that the wheight of them could have shattered his glasses. Scary thing though the glass shattered, (not shatterpuffe) imagine he was down at 30m and it shattered then ... hell thats a scary thought

Hiya

What boat did you guys go out on?? I was out on Saturday too, and had a great day out in the deep!! Did you guys see that HUGE school of dolphins chasing baitfish just outside the point?? Found some small longfin tuna and BIG, 8-12kg yellowtail also in that area, sort of between Bellows and South West Reefs, very close to Harolds Bank.

Also DIK yellowtail just off Bordjies on SUNDAY!!

Just for interest sake, the water was 22 degrees with 40m+ viz in the deep on Saturday!!

Regards

Re: Cape Town South Africa

Well like you said atleast my ribcage is still intact, what a freak accident that is . Seriously though Im still a bit pissed off about those kids catching one chocka after the other. You should have seen it, the water was so cold all the fish disapeared and it was too dirty to dive so we dicide to head into the harbour and anchor to catch a few squid, got to take something home you know, we didnt catch a single one and like 10m away three little kids prob not more than 10y old were catching them one after the other, I swear theyre still laughing at us . Hopefully our luck will turn soon though.

Re: Cape Town South Africa

We were on a red and white wave breaker, Double Up. We were out more in smutswinkel and closer to shore at Cape point, water was 13deg with less than 3m vis

yeah lets write that off as a bad day next time well ask uncle miles to show us where the fishies go.... Apparently we are clueless since we were halfway to bellows then decided to not waste petrol and turn back. ... sigh . .....

Re: Cape Town South Africa

Hiya

Next time, try the Rooikrantz ledges to Buffels area. Pretty much well protected from most sea's and easy shallow diving with reef and kelp. Always a GOOD possibility of ambushing the ever passing schools of yellowtail, as well as having Galgoen (when the season opens end of February) and roman, plus the usual array of reef fish.

Chokka, they're very easy to catch, IF YOU HAVE THE RIGHT COLOURED JIGS!! Inside the harbour at Simons Town, neon yellow or lime yellow lead jigs with pink floating yamash-ita jigs work best. Everyday they have a different mood, but these colors will consistantly outfish others. Fished on a 6-10kg line, you WILL catch chokka. If you're in the Buffels area, same colours, but the water will be much deeper, sort of 35-40m deep.

A bit more info on the boat please. Single or twin motors, length, etc, etc

Regards

Re: Cape Town South Africa

ps. do you want to cry??? I've now offloaded my tuna at Kalkbay and have on THREE occations in the last week seen the yellowtail the trek-netters have taken from Smits..... 7000kg's the one day, 8000kg's the next and 9000kg's on the last day!! And those were only the days i was at the harbour!!! The saddest part is that it is large fish, laden with ROE, 8-15kg class, which come into the bay to lay their eggs.......... talk about killing the goose that lays the golden egg.........

OK. Thought that if it was larger, you guys could simply follow me to the deep and enjoy spearing BIG fish in the ALWAYS clean, warm, blue water.............

Re: Cape Town South Africa

Twin 70s I think, the boat is about 4.5m long. Youve seen us before man, that one time at Dassen, you were out with Tommy and his son. Our crew included myself, Faiz, Barto and Christo on that particular day... Normally towed with a red Sani...
