question to all you s.a. guys!

hello!
i have a question regarding life in s.a. or more accurate pretoria, i got a job offer over there and if some of you guys tell me a little about how life is there? crime outdoor sports? trips in the region?how far is it from the sea? any input would be great, especialy from those how live there!!! thanks alot!!!!

hi there!
i grew up around pretoria and went to school there, i now live in cape town.
pretoria is an okay place, a small-feeling big town... if that makes sense... everywhere in SA is close to nature and outdoor activities... you just have to find what is in your area. in and around pretoria you can find some good climbing, cycling and loads of other things.
you are an easy 6hr highway drive from the warm waters of durban and natal, but more interestingly you are also around 6hrs from amazing mozambique. there are lots of great divers in the area who often do such trips. and you're only a 2hr flight from beautiful cape town!
crime... yes, you'll hear a lot of talk about that at the moment, all of it will be exaggerated, so send me a pm if you want the truth!
SA is a great place for outdoorsy people, the rest you work out along the way!
