Hi there, im South African (ie Rugby World Champions
 ) and am going to Qatar to work and possibly live. I was wondering whether there are companies making spearguns in Qatar or should i rather try take my guns over. I was considering buying a new gun so what are the average prices for a 1.2m gun if there is a supplier?? Is there anyone out there that would be interested in getting another dive buddy??? what are the fishing regulations in qatar, dubai and bahrain??? any information would be a godsent!!!Regards World Champ (for now, hahaha) PS sorry if i offend any brits

Hey Aaron;
There is quite a number of spearos in Qatar, however, it is totally disorganized (no rules, regulations etc..... The only rule: DONT spear in restricted/forbidden areas (e.g: harbours, around oil platforms, natural reserves etc...) As for As guns, there is an official RIFFE dealer, as well as Imersion , and my friend here is the dealer of OMER product. There is also a dealer of beuchat gun and JBL. So you have a good choice of guns.... As for the price of gun/equipment, they are within the normal price range, maybe slightly higher than in Europe or the US, but considering the cost of shipping to this area of the world, then its nothing extravagant.... Fishing here can be wonderful in clear water (especially that now the colder water season is approaching and water tend to be clearer), and we can get some really good big pelagic species (well not like those from south africa), but still, we get the 30kg+ kingfish, big barracudas, giant trevallies etc... and there is an abundance of groupers (locally known as hamour) around reefs in certain areas here. I regularly go dive around with other DB member "Baracuda" and "Sanadw", and also "Qatarhunter" and they are wonderful buddies & friends too, and I believe they would be glad to help you if needed... When you are in Qatar, you can drop me a PM, and I would be more than happy to take you somewhere here to show you our lovely water.... Best regards...
