Marc, visit http://groups.msn.com/altasub. There are some various pics on the site. Can also post a few later from my other computer.

Cool, thanks mate, it would be nice to see some lake pic's where your diving... What type of vis are you getting, and how deep are the lakes?

The last dive I had here (England) the water was 15c in temp, your water must been quite a bite cooler than that I would imagine

Re: Edmonton long weekend...

Marc here are some photos. Pic 27 is Cold lake. Pic 17 is Lake Minnewanka. Pic 20 is Waterton lake. Pic 37 is Twin Lake. Twin is our favorite close to Edmonton, only 1 hour away. Vis for Twin probably averages 15 ft. Surface temp is up to 20 C in the summer, but below 10 meters it is 4 C year round. Max depth is 35 m. We hunt perch and freshwater ling cod in this lake. On the other hand the mountain fed lakes (eg Minnewanka & Waterton) get to about 10 C surface in the summer. Cold lake is on the Saskatchewan border, where with a Sask license we can hunt anything that has gills. Max depths of the bigger lakes (not twin) is beyond what any of us can dive 100 + meters. Although, more depth can be far out from shore. I hope this gets you excited.

Re: Edmonton long weekend...

B.T.W do you guys do much kayak diving? I was thinking about buying a tandom kayak for when I got there. I did heaps of kayak diving in Australia and found it to be the way to go. Ocean Kayaks seem to be the best I've seen.

Lee from my knowledge is that Sask. made it so Cold Lake regulations for their side are the same as ours.

Most of the lakes we dive we shore dive but a kayak would be a good idea for some of the bigger lakes. Most are a hour and half atleast from Edmonton.
I am prefer diving Sylvan lakes these days and a kayak would be great for that lake.

The regulations for fish are the same throughout the lake eg 2 lake trout, but I believe the restrictions to spearfishing don't apply in Sask cold lake.

I forgot to mention James, (aka Warden Jim). You should have told me this sooner, we cleaned the lake out completely...no fish anymore, sorry.

You are lucky you guys have me. I have been checking into the provinces practices and rulings on spearfishing. Remember we should always respect where we can dive as we want to always be able to dive there.
Cutthroat trout I think have a zero possession limit for the whole province.
