Long Lake

I went to Long Lake in Forfar Park this last Saturday. Best visibility I've seen in a lake since Jasper! Not a fish to be found, but it's early yet and the weed beds are just starting to come up. Nice sandy rock bottom with a nice drop off reminiscent of Twin Lake, but much clearer. There are Jack and Perch in this lake and there were a few boats out. 4$ for the day area, with some good picnic sights right on the hill with paths leading down to the lake. Also the lake was surprisingly warm- I was in for 2 hours and was toasty, even with some good hangs in the thermocline below 10 metres.
There is a lake just north of this one called Narrow Lake as well, that is supposed to be very similar, with no beach area due to severe dropoffs on the bank.

Cool Erik. How long did it take to get there? How is the entry?

Re: Long Lake

It's about 1.5 hours with a stop on the way- 133km I think. The entry is excellent, either from the Day Area beach or down the bank from a good picnic spot. I'm going to go back in July after returning from the west coast- hopefully the perch are out then.

Re: Long Lake

I'm in for sometime in July if you want to split the gas.
