riffe modification

Hi All,

I have a Riffe Competitor which I would like to modify by moving the handle forward 6-7 inches. I plan to file down the existing trigger and attach the push rod between the filed trigger and the new trigger.

Does anyone have experience doing something like this? I would appreciate any help and ideas that you can give me on how to install the new trigger and the push rod.

I am hoping to end up with a gun similar to the Daryl Wong Rear-Handle Plus.

Re: riffe modification

It sounds like a good plan to me. I haven't done this but it sounds like you could pull it off w/out a hitch. I would suggest using a pine stock as a template. It will take a little longer, but you know you'll do it right on the teak when it counts.

Any particular Q's about mounting the new trigger? I just set a fence on a drill press and removed material for the trigger from the stock. You then drill a perpendicular hole to pin the trigger in place.

The best way to cut the push rod track would probably be w/ a plunge router. Then take a 1/8" ss rod and measure the distance from your remote trigger to your trigger mech. Try putting your shaft in the mech before cutting b/c other wise you'll have too much play.

Good Luck
