After a lot of wrangling and chip cashing and bridge burning et al, I'm hitting Bali. I've been a few times before but never for diving. Does anyone have any leads on spots to try, equipment, and species I might hope to encounter in Dec/Jan. Also how severe is the rainy season in these months? Finally, has anyone had trouble getting guns through immigration there, I vaguely recall this being a problem for some in the past. Mahalo for any info.

I'll be there in Janaury and February so keep me up to date on your travels and we'll maybe do some killing together. Jan is the Rainiest Month but also one of the best for dogtooth tuna. Plenty MAckerel as well and if you want then Ulua. Damn Shaft benders though. We usually leave them alone cause we want the Doggies.
Head to any of the dropoffs and current rips and you'll be into the tunas. Ulua will be right in the surf. A good place to start for shooting Ulua is Nusa Dua this time of year. Vis will be anywhere from 5-30 meters and the water will be chilly in some places so bring a 3 mil suit. No problem bringing guns in. Just smile and be very polite and make like they aren't a big deal. (50,000 rupiah helps too) In singapore however prepare to have them look everything over and over again and take pics of it but eventually let you through. Good luck and maybe we will see you there CK
