Hey I just arrived in Auckland and am going to be in NZ for around a year or so, wondering wher is a good place to settle down with some work and good spearing/fishing nearby. I've got all the dive gear (i was in western aussie for a year) but my girlfriend and I wanna figure out a good place out of the city to start our travels. We were thinking coromandel or maybe the bay of islands, but am open to any suggestions.

basically everything i've heard makes it sound great and so far it is! we are getting a nissan patrol tommorow so our adventure can kick off

Hi Spearslinger, I am in whangarei, about 1 hours drive from the bay of islands, lots of great spearfishing all up the east coast. I am the secretary of our local spearfishing club and am sure I could get you out on the water.

Hey thanks for the reply! I just arrived in Pukenui, doin some orchard work like a damn hippy
 . We will certainly be around Whangarei eventually! I'll message you when we do!
