Re: happy valentine's day

Oh yes...HAPPY Valentine's indeed. Today I won a small claims court case I'd been working on for three months! That in turn will now give me the money to buy an open cell and a nice float!

Not only did I win my court case...Afterwards I came home to an awesome T-bone steak, Baked potato & Broccolli dinner! I also handed an armfull of long stemmed red roses to my Valentines when I walked in the door! My boy got a big chocolate heart and ate the WHOLE thing while we (my wife and I) were pre-occupied!!! My twins got lotsa kisses! My lovely wife made me feel like a king today... She's so awesome.

Ha[ppy Valentine's everyone...Well, especially to all the ladies in the house! Show some luv!

I didn't get a single Valentine's Day card. Is that because I live in Russia, or because I am Armenian? Or maybe, it is because I am married?

I didn't get one either, hyeparis. How was the day otherwise? Mine was singularly uninspiring

i dont know, for me and my wife, we kind of had a ''restaurant incident'' a few years back on valentines, and since then we sort of never celebrate it..we'd give each other a nod like ''whats up', happy valentines''

I'm in the club, too. Not even a crush anywhere..
Ah, well.. I think I've had my share of love for a while. Not going there again anytime soon.

Re: happy valentine's day

Well, it was just another day, but transnational cosumer goods giants (parfume-makers, etc) are already succeeding in imposing this day on Russia (which is largely Orthodox and Moslem) - more and more ladies are asking their men to give them presents on that day (but not the other way around, for some reason). I bowed to pressure too - bought a bottle of expensive wine, some gourmet stuff and we had a late dinner with my wife.
As for romantic love/passion, I would avoid by all means! It is like a disease that you have some three years or more to be sick with.

Re: happy valentine's day

It couldn't have been a more unremarkable day. I had at exam at 8, followed by class until 12. There was another class from 10 until 4:00, then a resource management meeting from 6:30 until 9. My one and only treat to myself was at a local Mexican restaurant, where I had a carne asada meal. Afraid I teared up a little partway through, because Valentine's Day sucks that way My parents were extremely cute, and got each other thoughtful gifts.

How is it that you and your wife ended up together? I know some societies place a different emphasis on the way people relate to one another.

The infatuation and chemical high are really, really hard to get over. It's addicting and a lot like high explosives. I'm still grieving a relationship that ended months ago. Valentine's doesn't make things easier for anyone. Ok, off the relationship soapbox. Valentine's is over for another year

Re: happy valentine's day

Hey Batray, it's not always all guns and roses on Valentine's day. I wasnt up to it at all, just moved to a new place and its all a mess till i finish painting it and finding space for everything.

We just had take-in Italian, exchanged gifts and watched 'Allo 'Allo and then I was quite ready for bed - had to be up by five to drive to the coast and also have had a stiff neck for days (went to the osteopath to have cracked) - so nooky and all the other Valentine odds and sods were out of the question

I had no Valentine last year and got no cards - so dont feel bad

We ended up together by falling in romantic love, which then with years calmed down and turned into a stable affection/love for a very good person and a caring mother for my children.

Re: happy valentine's day

As it should be Congrats on finding a good woman and making things work. The stability probably makes Valentine's Day more of a gift than an obligation, which is preferable.

Re: happy valentine's day

Roses are red,
Violets are blue,
Some poems rhyme,
But this one doesn't,

I got my other half a card but she didn't get me one. When I tried to 'give' her another type of present later in the day I was rudely rebuffed and told something along the lines of, "you've got me in enough trouble already". Ho, hum maybe next year will be better........
