| Re: Another invasive species in UK rivers? Some more detail about it, I don't think it could breed in the UK... Snakehead caught in Lincolnshire UK | Practical Fishkeeping magazine Why are they imported though? The problem of unwanted fish being released is a huge one.

| Re: Another invasive species in UK rivers? I posted a video on these 2 weeks ago http://forums.deeperblue.net/freediv...nakeheads.html A friend of mine saw one in Wisconsin while Rabbit hunting and didn't know what it was- so he shot it- He thought that it's not right that a fish was "crawling" on the ground and had teeth like that. He said it was also going for his dog when it got too close. Creatures of the Devil

| Re: Another invasive species in UK rivers? Snakeheads are good eating fish. They taste really nice. Here in Asia, the Chinese people cook them in soups. They're a great fish at the end of a line too, they fight well. I doubt though, that they could breed in the frigid waters of the UK. |

| Re: Another invasive species in UK rivers? Creature of the Devil it may be but I reckon it would cook up alright with a bit of Garlic butter and maybe a sprig or 2 of Parsley. ![]() Just watched your video clip. That is one bad fish, best bring out the Kryptonite. |

| Re: Another invasive species in UK rivers? I'd eat it too - at least once. Fry it up in some butter. MMMMM. I don't think I would want one sneaking up on me while diving.

| Re: Another invasive species in UK rivers? Looks mostly like media hype to me. It is true that they could cause major ecological problems if they started breeding in the UK, but that is unlikely. Also, a lot of fish can walk on land, including the native European eel and many catfish, loaches and others. Many other species have big teeth, including the Northern pike.

| Re: Another invasive species in UK rivers? Snakeheads are bad news. They breed like rabbits and eat just about anything around, including baby ducks and geese. They are also resistant against being killed off by poison and can live for a right long time in open air. There was a recent pond in Maryland where they ended up dumping some sort of poison into and then draining after that because the pond was infested with the things. They are very adaptable and temps don't seem to have too much of an effect on them in terms of killing them off.....
