Music to dive by. Lorenna Mckennit - Wiccan dance

I was watching a spearo vid on line and really liked the background music. Googled the lyrics and it turned out to be "Lorenna Mckennit - Wiccan dance".

Now I freely admit that this is my sort of music but had never heard of Lorenna before. Anyone a fan? Any advice on albums, downloads etc.

Anyone else want to chip in some favourite video backing artists.

Dave

This is a you tube link for the song. Ignore the vid as this ones not diving related and can't find the original.

Love the music. Writing a huge Memo for law school and listening to the music while I study/work. Beautiful Irish accent and great study/relaxing music. I've never heard of the singer but I think I'm a fan now.

I have listened to her for about 10 years. You might also like Dead Can dance, with Lisa Gerrard singing.

Re: Music to dive by. Lorenna Mckennit - Wiccan dance

Definitely not for everyone, but I think its pretty deep shznit...I find myself often hearing the Sacred Spirit (Enigma....which also rocks) music as I'm headed to sea...bongos on Ubig. Mr Lovegrove, are off the chain..."you keep time to the beat of an old slave drum" seems alot of us do...I prefer the bongos myself

Re: Music to dive by. Lorenna Mckennit - Wiccan dance

V. pleasant, atmospheric - reminds me of Clannad (c. Robin of Sherwood) & Enya. I thought OMD had "come out" as a Bollywood fan there for a moment. The first song sounds religious in parts -- interesting title, Wiccan is paganism/witchcraft, so when she says "O'Lord" there is an interesting ambiguity. Phrygian in another title is the musical scale used which gives an middle eastern flavour to the music (named after a Greek tribe). Amazing animation on Arthas Destiny.

I climbed with a British guide from the beatnik era in the French alps who liked to listen to Ladysmith Black Mambaso in the morning - it seems like an incongruous combination but oddly it worked. He also liked to ice climb to classic rock which seems like the wrong vibe to me, something smooth & calming (for the nerves & fragile ice) would be my choice. I guess he favoured soaring & majestic for the mountains.

I was a little boy when Tom Jones was charting. I might have been sceptical but somebody played me a piece of a Tom Jones CD last year & it was surprisingly powerful. Just cut & paste the URL (link) shown at the top of your browser when you view the video into your post, the rest is done by magic.

This is a sublime tune (Aria, popularised by Yanni I believe) - & happily it has a cool spearing video attached:
