Last year I met a Spearo from New Zealand by the by the name of Tim (no surname). I bumped into him in Mozambique and Sodwana some time later. He was a top spearo and would like to make contact with him again. I will post a pic of him in my gallery and would appreciate any assistance.
Thats him on the right. |

What a bomb?
Ok I have to admit thats pretty freaky, I met Timbo almost a year ago at Ponta Mamoli (great place) and did a little diving then two weeks later on a SCUBA trip to Sodwana... there he is swimming (from shore) to shoot fish in the highest boat traffic piece of ocean in the country. I loaded him up onto my dive club boat "Stella" the following day once the bubble blowers have departed and we set off for 9 mile reef. He jumped in and in no time had loaded up with few fish, i dropped a quick line to see whats down there and hooked into a beauty on a small bait stick. The wind was prety stron and by the time I landed it (10 minutes) I was 1.5km off Tim and he was nowhere is sight, I headed upwind and eventually found him (possesively) holding two fish whilst fending off a rather large Grey shark with his gun and he didnt even break a sweat. All in all we landed about 10 fish in 30minutes . Anyway the weird thing is that Island Sands was the first point of contact I had on this forum and is somehow linked to Tim enabling me to make contact again. Thats too weird, but thaks for hooking us up. I will post another pic of the days catch. Over |

Well they say everything happens for a reason, glad you could get in contact again. There are some awesome shots of Tim with a tiger shark at Aliwal Shoal.

Hey I know Graham, I skippered a boat whilst he filmed a competition in Guinjata Mozam, nice guy.... Ya thats cool I remember he told me about that session , and the big Tiger that didnt flinch when pushed in the nose with a spear, apparantly the chum was finished and the shark was hungry hahaha.
I did a cool dive on pinnacles with Tim and Barry and some BIG Bull sharks to get some photage for somone.... my pressure gauge was jamed (i thought I had 110 bar) and at 20m everything went tight" I did a slow bolt for the surface. The tiger pic in my Gallery was taken on that same reef, theres loads of sharks and one of the top shark dives in the world, apparently. |

Is that the royal we?
Tim shot 2 fish in one go (spear went through one and plugged another) when he first jumped in and that was just the start of watching a master in the water... I think 'we' landed 3 of the 10??? I of course will state clearly that I had nothing to do with landing anything. My excuse? The sea was pretty rough, all I could do was watch in awe and try to drive the boat while the 2 guys were getting my dinner - for which I remain incredibly grateful by the way. hee hee Last edited by calliecal; May 29th, 2008 at 08:52. |
