Re: Fyi....

I found out my Samsung is allergic to water. I wonder if they make a phone (cell) that floats and is water proof?

Re: Fyi....

I believe there are some waterproof (resistant more like it) phones, however I don't know if they can survive depth etc like if you happen to drop it in 15 feet of water.

Re: Fyi....

A guy I work with had a few drinks one night, jumped a fence in an apartment complex and into their pool. Wallet, keys phone....they all took a bath. We had the Motorola water resistant models. They are not meant to be submerged. His shut off like it was supposed to. Had he dried it out, it would have been fine, but he turned it on and a few seconds later it shut off for good.

Not sure if you've every seen the Discovery Channel show Deadliest Catch, but they showed one of the boat captains boarding his boat and slipped into the ice cold water in his street clothes. No worries man, it happens to people the practically live on the water too

Sands, what were you doing in the bathroom with your cell phone out?

ILDiver, I am actually planning on becomming a king crab fisherman for at least one season just to try it, and to help pay for college. My brother worked on a barge out on the snake river for the army core, and has a couple friends that did it. They are going to give me a recomendation to a capitan.

Ha! I work for a company that employs more than 1000 and 80 percent female. So I don't even have to ask how it has happened as it happens ALL the time in our offices.

Re: Fyi....

i know nokia do two waterproof models,mod.5210 & a bright blue/yellow opaque one with a compass in it but can't remember what model it is,mine has been in the water a lot of times mod 5210,it works fine, but i wouldn't take it to any depth the pressure would break the seal, if you need to take a phone with you for emergencies use a waterproof case,& tow a boogie board with you with the rest of your gear on it,ie gun, water, phone, dive flag, cuddly toy
