Re: So sad I could die

Been to see the troll wall, and the road beyond which is some long wndy thing with like 15 hairpins to wind up steep enough to get up the cliff. Spectacular, as is the wall which is just a massive vertical rock face Trollveggen in Romsdal, Norway

Nice picture at that link but I don't think the top picture does justice to the wall. The bottom picture is amazing though.

*TROLL WALL*

I read about Ed Drummond's ascent some years ago. Quite serious. He ended up with a condition that he referred to as "trench penis".

Re: So sad I could die

Watched an episode of that fishing programme with Henry Gilbey and they were Summer fishing in Norway; amazing scenery and 24 hour light. They caught some fat old Wolf fish; are they good eating? The bloke never really seems to talk about the eating qualities of the fish he catches but he reckoned the Wolfies ate lobster amongst other prey so I would hope that makes them plenty tasty? They also caught cod miles inland on some Fjord - amazing stuff.

Re: So sad I could die

That is because he dont eat fish!
There is an episode of Rick Steins where he tries to tempt Henry with his first ever taste of bass (family friends - Gilbeys & Stiens) any how he ate it but as far as I know he hasn't since!

I can confirm that Wolffish are Yummy! Nice white flakey meat. their favourite food is sea urchin and you can smell it on them.

Only fish that compares to lobster however is Anglerfish (monkfish).

I think I had that a couple of times in Bangkok... Not sure how one gets it climbing a wall.

Severe dehydration. Had a pal go dilirious during the descent from a big, hot, south-facing wall after we'd been held up for just one extra night on the wall, 2 pitches from the top & with no stance, by an earlier party that backed off the route after they had faffed around for hours on the first crux roof. The descent was long & treacherous, so it made for quite an adventure. Re-hydrating after that was sublime pleasure. Water never tasted so good (nor the pitcher Stawberry Daqueri & pizza!).

I doubt if dehydration was a problem in Bangkok though

Re: So sad I could die

We have a similar fellow over here on the west of Canada. He's a Wolfeel- they get to 2 metres long and mate for life. Spearos generally dont shoot them as they are a big attraction for the SCUBA people and the dive boats.
I'm not sure if they're legal to take here in any case. I know they're supposed to be great eating.

Same fish, different language :P
English = atlantic Wolffish
North American = Wolfeel
Variations = Seawolf, catfish, big pussy(Scottish fishermen slang)

all are Anarhichas lupus.
