newie needs help???

hello im new to the world of freediving but have been doing it in some form all my life just not aware it was a sport. growing up on the ocean and vacationing at lakes ive always loved swimming underwater without scuba gear. but now im trying to learn to go deeper and longer id like to know if there is any type of class i could take near central or sothern costal new jersey or anywhere near nj for that matter. i have trouble equilzing when i hold nose and blow out nothing seems to happen i guy i met on the beach told me to try holding nose and swallowing it seems to work well but i never heard of this method is this ok to do? also if there is anyone in nj that would like to go for a dive let me know, i go in shark river and differnt jettys from asbury to spring lake like i said im new to the sport so bare with me im not really into spearhunting but if you just want to freedive and show me some things let me know. thanks

for the ear clearing part, try the frenzel technique... it worked wonders for me... just search ' frenzel technique' on google and ull find it... it only took me a couple days to learn it and it really works good...
PEACE!!!

P.S.- i think the swallowing thing is ok... ive tryed it too and it works to some degree, but the frenzel is better...
