How to improve static time..

Hey
I need some advice..
I really love freediving in the lake CW (just for fun, no competition) it makes me feel relaxed, happy and helps to calm down after a stressful day..

I also tried DYN and DNF in the pool - it´s not that good, but ok and it´s good practice..

But I´m so bad in static, I cannot relax doing this and I do not feel good at all..
What could I do to improve my static time a bit and how do you bring yourself to train this

I would be happy to get some advice how to train

Re: How to improve static time..

From my experience I only improve at what I train, so dynamic training has little effect on static performance. Maybe try some of the tips given here on DB for relaxing during a dive, and also some CO2 and O2 tables, starting with relatively easy ones.

Also, if you are only doing recreational diving, maybe you don't need to train static at all.

Hope this helps.

This is the problem. Tables can help a lot as Naiad said, but relaxing and feeling good is fundamental in every breath hold activity. When I used to perform statics, my mantra was: "I'm all mind: I am bodyless. I'm all mind: I am bodyless" (Till contractions came knocking at the door of the mind)
You'll have to improve your capabilities slowly, progressively, step by step, but you must have faith in your own potential to improve.
Now, for something more serious than my mantras, you could read this:

Re: How to improve static time..

Relax and take it easy!

Make your work with the O2 and CO2 tables, perhaps some apnea walking, some yoga, and then you will break the 4 minutes easily.

Hi. You can try breath like 1:2:2 ( 8sec:16sec:16sec ) for 20 times.
