Hi Jonta,

Your static breath hold is pretty impressive for some one who is very new to the sport. I myself am new to freediving and my static breath holds suck! My PB is like 2:15 but I have done a 70m dynamic - thats before I got sick I haven't really done any proper training tables, atleast not consistently but since you've shown vast improvement i think I'll be getting a little more serious about it, especially since I'll be getting all my new gear soon and want to give it a good run.

Keep up the training and keep us posted on your times. At 15y/o you've got all the time in the world so don't rush it!

Jono

Re: How much will it take?

When I was hunting in the Adriatic I always had fins and a wetsuit (single piece with shorts and short sleeves)... I found that because it's sort of 'spongey'... it makes you float, and expend a lot of energy to get down and stay down when you're trying to hunt.

Finally my buddy told me I needed weight, and indeed it was weird at first, but the weights definitely helped me be able to relax and stay down longer and fish... I have a hard time imagining going without weight now!... but if you have no suit or fins, then I definitely would avoid weights. I can't imagine hunting without fins... and the weight does get to you after a couple hours... if you are not in shape you will get tired. (I was not in good enough shape... could only hunt for about 2 hours, my buddy Zvonimir could go for 4, easily ...man, I gotta start working out more!!!
