Hi Jay, I can imagine that you are hooked. I feel exactly the same way. tomorrow we will finish the course having our last apnea static and next week we will have our theory exames. Probably I will be doing some freediving in the lake next weekend (if the weather is ok). I am looking forward to my next constant weight...

This morning I reached 45 meters DNF. I changed the weight of my nechweight from 2,7 Kg to 2,2 Kg and it works out perfectly. I used 4 strokes to do the 25 meters.

well done vanleh keep it up
i am starting training for my three star course this week im probably gonna go down the teaching route in next year or so , there is not many freedivers in my area , if any ,so i would like to change that .its definately the sport for me . i was on my course last weekend and i had a few of them moments, you know were every thing goes quiet and you are breathing up lying on your back in the middle of open water, i was just looking up at the sky , totaly in the zone , all stresses of work and everyday life just subsided . then i roled over gave signal to my buddy and dived . i was totaly overwhelmed by the fact i was so relaxed , i feel so different in my aproach to things since then, i know its only a week since but , hey ,start as you mean to go on. |

Hi Jay,
I know the feeling. Sometimes you lie in the water and you feel the stress getting away from you. It is a pitty that where I am living now, the sea is quite far away from (250 Km). I will go back to Spain this summer for the holidays (I lived there before I lived in Italy) and there I will do some nice diving. I am looking forward to some descents!! Take care, Hans |

Nice work on your progress.
I did a course over here in New Zealand last November. I swam most nights for a couple of months before the course and could manage a single 30m length of the pool without fins before the course but not alot more. during the course I set my PB static of 4min 20. I managed a deepest dive for the weekend of 17m, and I forget how long my best dynamic was. Now I can swim 90m dynamic with fins and I generally repeat that 2 or three times during an evening training session. I also can happily spend a good minute or so on the bottom collecting Scallops/Abalone/spearing fish that I wouldn't have managed 9 months ago. I wouldn't say I'm any fitter than I was November last year, Just more "comfortable" under water. What I'm trying to say is "keep up the great work you will look back in a years time and wonder why it seemed so difficult"

Nice to see all of you progress and sharing your experiences.
For myself I will have to wait 5 weeks before getting back in the water since I broke my wrist last week. Have to stick to dry training... Have fun and stay safe. Miguèl |

Thanks for the positive responses!!
In 2 weeks we will have our finale exames in the pool. First static and then dynamic. I am already looking forward to it. This week I completed my theoratical exam without any big problems. The only thing that was really difficult was the language. Because I am Dutch it was difficult to understand all the questions / answers in Italian (I can speak it quite well but the words which were used were very difficult). In the end I only had 5 mistakes out of 50 questions. I hope to adchieve some new records during the pratical exames. My goals are 3 minutes in static and 65 meters in dynamic. Take care everybody!! |
