Re: Omer Stringer by Marco Bardi

Loop the loop of the stringer around your belt on one side and put the black plastic receiver on the other side and then clip the stringer needle into the receiver so that the stringer line lies across your waist in a tidy manner

Re: Omer Stringer by Marco Bardi

thx pastor.. to clarify, i mount the plastic with the clip on one side of the belt, then the other plastic receiver needle holder on the other side.. when i string the fish, i take out the needle, string through gills, and put the needle back into the receiver.. maybe i stupid question, but can i put the stringer needle in either of the plastic receivers, or just the one without the line clip?

That's about it, (I don't have one of these I'm just going by the one my mate uses) depending on the fish I would go through one gill and out through the mouth or straight through the eyes on softer mouthed fish. Use the one without the clip to keep the loop lower profile, if you catch so many fish there isn't enough room then bring the clip to the one with the loop attached

Re: Omer Stringer by Marco Bardi

just one more warning: attach the stringer on your back and not in the front (which means: NOT on the frontside where the bucket of the belt opens).
This caution could be life-saving if you need to release your belt for quick surfacing in case of emergency. All the rest has been said by sweetheart Pastor.

Very good point darling! Seems obvious when you know it's supposed to be over your back

Interesting, I thought the clip was just to hold it before you caught your first fish. Is the pin too short to hold the fish if it is not clipped back in? I guess it would help stop you spiking yourself.

I think I might give a belt stringer a try. I've noticed that the fish are definitely interested in strung fish. I had a bass come in Friday & was surprised at how quick it swam off as I wasn't looking direclty at it. In hindsight, I reckon it was looking above me at the fish on my float stringer -- so when it saw me it was a complete surprise rather than the usual gradual realisation. It was also quite clear -- having fish on you would also break up your outline in a way that would tend to attract curious fish.

Does the Marco B. stringer offer any significant advantage over others or the home-made ones recently discussed on the Guernsey thread?

Re: Omer Stringer by Marco Bardi

I must admit to not reading the Guernsey thread as it's just too damn long to find information so I'm not sure what they have discussed, a short length of old rubber tied to a weight? If so there is little to no advantage apart from looking a lot tidier in my opinion.

I'm very jealous that you still have vis enough to see your stringer, it's total crap up here 6" perhaps
