Recommendations please.

Hi I've never owned my own gun before and am not sure which to go with. I want a pneumatic gun for fresh water. Depth I fish at 0 - 35 feet. Visibility usually 10 to 20 feet but up to aprox 40 feet. Prey - everything from panfish (2lbs) to walleye (up to 10 lbs) and northern pike (up to 30 pounds). I've only used rear handle guns. Price less than $400. Thanks in advance for any help.

Joseph

I'll be the first to say that you will find quite a few interesting guns for under $400.00. Check out the Alberta guys!

Re: Recommendations please.

I've used both sling and air and definitely prefer air.

Re: Recommendations please.

Mares Cyrano or Mares Spark 850. Not too long, not too short, easy to load, shoots like a 100cm bandgun.
Between the 2 I'd get the Spark.

Re: Recommendations please.

I use band guns so not much help, but if you're interested in getting together sometime please post and let us know on the Altasub forum!
Cheers,

Re: Recommendations please.

Of rear-handle guns I own an Omer Tempest 70 cm - for five years
durable and precise - had to repair it once.
Most Italian-made gun would be of similar quality and some of them are made in the same factories in Asia where the Italian brands place orders.
But in terms of precision, nothing beats rubber bands unless it is a custom-made pneumat. I find rubber band guns to be more precide and, of course, they are much easier to use and service
