Understand where you are coming from, but with correct shot placement, a bent spear is not an issue. I know people that have freeshafted on rigs with light spears and done just fine. As a beginner it would be better to have a heavier spear to reduce the amount of bent spears, but don't knock all Euro guns just because you bent a spear. Keep in mind Euro guns can be equipped (and often are) with heavier spears for rig or other such hunting.
