I have OMER Millenium fins 46-48. They fit great with not socks or anything on. But I wore 3mm socks yesterday and putting the fins on was near impossible. Anyone know of a way to stretch the pockets or of a fin that has a slightly larger pocket?

If you don't have any luck, you might try wearing the sox on the outside. I go barefoot down to 60F and sox outside worked to 50 but I didn't try any less.

If you cut about 10cm off the toe of a sock, you can put your foot through the whole, the fin on and slide the sock back over the foot. Cut the 10cm piece about in half and place it over the toes before you put the fin on, to seal the opening. It's in Terry's book. I think Bill Ernst gets credit for the 'invention'.

Have you checked out the Gary Fisher powerfins in New Zealand)? They have ones with pockets specifically for bigger feet too...I know they're just getting their site live now so try them over the next day or so at
htp://www.fisherpowerfins.co.nz or just email the man himself direct if you can't wait! His email is garyfisher@xra.co.nz Hope this helps (and might save a few pairs of socks ..!) |

Ive had a similar problem and must say I never really tried any of the solutions, bought proper fins instead
But heres a few that sounded feasable, 1 use a hair dryer to warm the pocket and then stretch it using a shoe pommel or something similar. 2 wine bottles to stretch the pocket. 3 warm water to soften and stretch. I have found the picasso black teams to be the most comfortable fit for me, other ones that also have a similar pocket are the esclapez fins. These are for larger flatter feet

Assuming it's too late to take them back and get bigger ones, you could try what I do. I don't wear socks in the Summer or pool. Spring, fall and winter I wear neoprene socks. I do it mainly for heat regulation (my Elios wetsuit is toasty warm, year round) -- I need to cool down a bit in Summer, but it works well with the fins too. My feet are quite a bit larger in the warmth of the Summer than it colder weather. Also, your feet are covered by the fin's foot pocket so they don't get cold -- the only real drawback is having to walk barefoot over shingle/rock but it toughens your feet ( squeeling "owch" everytime your step on something painful helps

yeah, I can't take them back. And these are the biggest foot pockets OMER has. I can wear them bare foot. It's just when the water gets into the 40's, it gets cold. I tried a pair of 3mm socks and had a hard time getting the fins on. Mainly the top of my foot, width seems ok. Once on, they were not really that tight.
