Ok DB'ers I need some advice.
I have the three following choices for my new fins. Ive tried all on and they all seem comfortable enough. My choices are as follows: Omer Millenium Green omer_millenium.jpg Picasso Team Black picassoblack.jpg Tiguillo long blade fins unsure of exact model but they're $100 cheaper than the above two options and seem to have similar flex. Thoughts anyone??? |

With the OMER you'll have a huge choice of blades when you upgrade.

This is very good advice, I am very happy with my omer foot pockets, but I think the picasso pockets are the best, however the blade selection on the picasso is very limit, therefore my vote will go with omer.

Yeah thanks for the advice.
I've been doing a bit of research on the net. Omer fins look like they could be the go. But I still haven't made my mind up yet. I think I need to try a few different fins in the water, as I really have no idea what will/won't work for me by simply trying them on in the shop.

Omer gives You a great selection of blades. I thought the Picasso team blacks were more comparable to Omer millenium runners tho... You reckon they are same as the greens?

I don't know if the two fins are comparable, but one dive shop locally stocks the Omer's the other the Picasso's. And I should also mention they both are retailing for similar price.

If you can try them all on then go with the one that is the best fit on your foot. Both Picasso and Omer are good fins. Picassos have a nice firm foot pocket if you want to upgrade to stiff fibreglass fins down the track.
There is an NZ fibreglass blade (power blades I think) that will fit in the picasso or omer fin pocket (I'm not sure at all about the other one. These are quickly getting a good reputation amongst spearos in NZ and Australia. There are a few other brands of glass blades (DiveR is another popular one). It depends on how deep you dive, and how deep your pockets are. Cheers, Cam

Once again thankyou everyone for all the replies, really.
I must also thank Chrismar for the opportunity to try out his Omer fins at my course next month. Very Much appreciated I assure you. So my thoughts at this stage are leaning towards Omer fins due to the possibility of Blade upgrades later down the track. Who knows I may feel the need to go deeper later on. Just for the record, tonight for my nightly swim I borrowed my girlfreinds scuba fins & damn they felt stiff! I can assure you they aren't a cheap pair of fins (I should know, Mery Xmas Megan for 2006). My ankles as I type this are killing me, my flatmate recons this is cos I'm about as tuff as a pound of butter...... How does she use them???? Note to self: never do anything that may result in Megan booting me in the clangers, cos damn there must be some strength on those legs!!!!! ![]() Either way the Omers won't have high expectations to live up to, as anything would feel better than these on my ankles!!!
