I currently have a bat25, I think they are good for surface swimming however they lack snap. I've also tried the bat30 they felt stiff. I've played 330 dollars on my pair of bats then two months later both a pair of special fins hybrid medium stiffness, after those I've never looked at fins any more (thanks to Marwan), in retrospect I would have saved some money going straight for the hybrid eve though the hybrid are very expensive. So if you are looking into high end fins it is best to research and not compromised (I my humble opinion), your weight is also an important factor. I also have a pair of special fins hybrid on hard, those are very stiff for me and very hard to swim on the surface.
So picking the right fin requires some research but it is also a lot of fun ! One also needs to look into the foot pocket, there are several brands out there, in my opinion I like the ones with a stiff bottom (the cressis are not good for me), but as you are going to read there are plenty of cressi lovers out there.

I have just ordered a pair of red mimitec, medium hard, xxone/ kaleidos blades from totemsub. Im looking forward to giving them a try out, im planning on putting them on OMER footpockets. I like my ice fins but they can't quite cut the mustard when it comes to strong currents and deeper dives.
Will keep you all posted on how the new fins work out. Cheers Ian
