Enroute to FIT Level III.... Part 2
After some Dives with cdavis and then a cut on my hand I had to lay low for a while to let my cut heal up. So I've stayed pretty dry. I spent a couple of days just relaxing at my parents, then yesterday (Thursday the 31st) I came to Ft Lauderdale. I had to pick Wreckrunner up from the airport. We went to his buddies house and ran some errands to get ready for a night dive on scuba to see if we could locate a lobster or two. While waiting we spent about 45min in his friends pool and worked on statics. My best of the session and if I recall right, Wreckrunner's too was 3:30.
After that bit of mental revisiting of our FIT II class we started to get things geared up to go do the night dive. It was my first Saltwater Night dive and I loved it. A lot of cool fish tucked under ledges and in small pockets. Saw 3 fairly decent hogfish. Wreckrunner was not successful and bare handing one of them.
In the midst of getting ready for our diving we were back at the motel checking in. My wife, daughter and parents are over on the east coast here until tomorrow morning. While checking in I asked the owner about the monkey's. The Squirel Monkey's DO NOT Come To The Fence Anymore! Well, at least for the time being. The power company came in and trimmed the trees and brush way back. The monkey's don't have cover up by the fence and do not come in. My daughter and I are very sad about this.
This morning we got up and went to breakfast at Athena's then to Boaters World. My dad was in the Coast Guard 40 something years ago and stationed in Opaloka, so we went down there so he could see how much things have grown up around there. I checked my GPS and it said we were 1.5 hours from Islamorada. I figured that was a bit optimistic, but I said it out loud and my dad said, then we'll head that way. 1.5 hours later we were there. My first trip to the Keys! We stopped at Chilli Willies for lunch, then a little sandle shop, then headed back to the motel. It was 2:00 when we finished lunched, I figured it would be a 4 hour drive. We made another 30 - 45 min stop and still got back to the motel just before 6:00. A much faster trip than I thought!
Tomorrow, Level III starts. I need to sleep good tonight.
