Two Days,Two Tanks, Four Dives

Posted 5 Days Ago at 15:16 by ILDiver
My weekend dive plans started out to be an advanced course. That fell apart and left me looking for something to do. One of my students belongs to a private lake north of Peoria, about an hours drive for me. He gave me a call and I headed up early so we could get in during the no wake time. 10 am the ski boats are allowed to run.

So we go along the rock dam, but right away my dive buddy Dave noticed the lake had greened up from the previous weekend. We jump in hoping the rocks...

Haigh Quarry report

Posted 6 Days Ago at 15:50 by slimsteve
Friday when I got home form my morning job I bought a six pack of ensure, got my gear together and made breakfast and two lunches, both for me, in preparation for a 4 Am departure for the Haigh Quarry. Before I go any further let me explain the ensure.

Posted 1 Week Ago at 15:14 by seventenths

I have spent the last few days diving and finning around Tory Island looking for Basking shark, the Plankton were in full bloom, it was like diving in soup. but no sharks as yet, maybe this evening or tomorrow.

the visibility was awful, but the weather was glorious.

Haigh Quarry...

Posted 1 Week Ago at 13:45 by ILDiver
Saturday June 20th was a great day to be diving. It had been raining pretty good the week leading up to it. I thought the visibility would be down for sure. Not even, the vis was 30' - 40'. I do not get up there often enough. It's a 2.5 hour drive for me. It was great to be able to see the contours of the bottom. There is so much character to it. I want to go up and explore it more, off the beaten path so to speak.

The reason I was there was to take students out for their...
